Meet The Artist
Stems from Love is rooted in the things that matter most to me—my children, my health, nature, animals, creativity, and the connection that can happen when something created with love is shared with someone else.
My children are my greatest inspiration. They continually inspire me to grow, create, explore, and become the best version of myself—not only for them, but for the life I want to live and the example I want to set.
I am a self-taught artist and photographer, but my relationship with creating started long before Stems from Love ever became a business.
For as long as I've been creating art, I've given most of it away.
I've created pieces as birthday gifts, surprises for people I care about, and simply because I felt inspired to make something for someone. Sometimes I'll be sitting at a picnic table or spending time at a park, start drawing something that catches my eye, and when I'm finished, give it to a stranger.
Those moments have always meant something to me.
Seeing someone's reaction when I give them something I've created—watching them light up and hearing what the piece means to them—has always brought me more joy than the money I could have received from selling it.
But giving my art away also became an important part of how I grew as a self-taught artist.
I learned by creating. I would spend hours upon hours working on a piece, experimenting, adding intricate details, drawing ornate mandalas, flowers, animals, and whatever else inspired me. Then I would give it to someone.
Their reactions gave me validation that what I was creating was beautiful and meaningful to someone besides me. That encouragement made me want to create again, push myself further, learn more, and make the next piece even better.
In many ways, sharing my art with other people helped me become the artist I am today.
Nature and animals have always been another enormous source of inspiration for me. I've always felt deeply drawn to both, and that connection has found its way into my artwork again and again. Flowers, animals, intricate natural details, mandalas, and even my love of fantasy have all influenced what I've created over the years.
More recently, photography has given me an entirely new way to create.
Being behind a camera encourages me to slow down and really see what's around me—the light, a landscape, a sunset, an animal, or a small detail in nature that could easily be overlooked. There's something special about capturing a real moment that moved me and then being able to share a little piece of what I saw with someone else.
My photography has also become a new source of inspiration for my apparel. Instead of creativity existing in separate worlds, I'm finding ways for my photography, artwork, nature, and design to grow together.
My apparel comes from another deeply important part of my life: healthy, intentional living.
Health is one of my strongest personal values, and I believe the everyday choices we make matter—including what we choose to put on our bodies. That's why I chose to build my apparel around 100% organic cotton rather than simply creating clothing for the sake of creating clothing.
I want the pieces I offer to feel natural, comfortable, thoughtfully made, and aligned with the way I try to live. And I want the artwork on them to have a story—to come from something I've seen, experienced, photographed, drawn, imagined, or genuinely felt connected to.
When I look back at everything I've created over the years, there's a common thread I didn't necessarily recognize while I was living it.
Something inspires me. I create from it. And then I want to share it.
Whether that's giving an original drawing to someone I love, handing a sketch to a stranger at a park, capturing a beautiful moment in nature through my camera, or creating artwork that someone can wear, that desire to share has always been there.
The value of creating has never been purely financial for me. The connection it creates and the way it can make another person feel have always meant more.
So when I chose the name Stems from Love, it represented something much bigger than a store.
My children, my art, my photography, my love of animals and nature, my health, and so much of what inspires me all stem from things I genuinely love.
I create from love, live with intention, and share what I create in the hope that it brings a little beauty, joy, or connection into someone else's life.
That is what Stems from Love means to me.
